EcoSmart Hot Water - Australia’s largest locally owned solar hot water company has announced another world first with the launch of an environmentally friendly hot water pump for cold climates.
Developed to overcome problems getting hot water in cold climates, the new EcoSmart Heat Pump model replaces the previous EcoSmart heat pump model and features a defrost function – a great bonus for households and commercial premises in areas where the temperature regularly drops below zero degrees.
Operating through patented Hotlogic® technology, the system automatically determines whether ice has developed on the evaporator and commences its de-icing cycle.
As ice lowers the evaporator’s ability to capture heat energy, the EcoSmart heat pump system also instinctively determines when the de-icing process has concluded and returns to normal heat pump operation, ensuring efficiency is maintained and no heat loss occurs.
This innovation from EcoSmart Hot Water means that the system does not waste the
heat previously generated, and therefore continuously operates and creates hot water even when mercury levels drop below zero - thereby making it more efficient than other comparable heat pump water heaters on the market.
According to Romano Bolzon, National Business Manager for EcoSmart Hot Water, “The air-sourced heat pump water heater from EcoSmart is one of the most efficient ways to convert solar energy into hot water and is an excellent solution for homeowners concerned about degradation of the environment and rising energy rates. Now with the de-icing feature, the heat pump water heater provides a year-round hot water solution, and homeowners investing in the heat pump water heater can be assured that they are treading lightly with their carbon footprint, and by doing so are able to live better and reap the financial rewards”.
By not using heat from the tank to defrost, the EcoSmart Heat Pump maintains the tank heat using fans to defrost the evaporator, therefore optimising comfort and efficiency in any climate. With economic and environmental advantages, the enhanced efficiency levels that the system brings therefore result in 2 RECs points more than the original heat pump system – meaning the heat pump is 34 per cent more efficient than comparable systems.
“The EcoSmart Sub Zero heat pump is the successor and replacement to the already marketed EcoSmart Heat Pump. Offering a higher performance advantage, the new and improved heat pump, achieves industry-leading efficiency and meets energy conservation standards, while being an all climate heat pump”.
The EcoSmart heat pump still boasts considerably lower operation noise levels and higher operating efficiency levels compared to other heat pump water heaters on the market, with the addition of the innovative de-icing function.
The new lid is moulded from BASF Luren® which is a high impact, highly UV stabilised European automotive polymer, and adds considerably to the heat pump’s durability, preventing colour loss and reducing the weight of the system.
The cost of the EcoSmart heat pump unit itself is the same as the previous Airoheat heat pump, and its installation is as easy to install as standard electric water heaters.
